Classical and practical herbalist – immerse in herbs!

Course description

This class will open your mind for the easiness of applying herbs and your senses for the herbs’ qi. Participants will work directly with plants, looking, touching, smelling, brewing, tasting and discussing over 100 Chinese medicinal herbs. Discussion will utilize classical Chinese concepts such as flavour and nature, yinyang qualities and inherent potency to understand the clinical application of single herbs and their combination in formulas. Most importantly, herbs will be understood through comparing and contrasting and direct experience. The experiential learning provided in this course will profoundly benefit participants' relationship and understanding of herbal medicines. Theory will be based in the classics and so reduced to the simplest and most authentic, easy to understand and to apply. With the experience of this class and it’s extrapolation into everyday’s practice, students will be able to use anything, may it be herbs, Chinese or others, foods, spices or drinks and apply their qi, flavour, yin and yang according to patients’ needs.

Due to it’s intensive immersion into practical experiences with herbs, this class is an eye-opener (and other senses too) for beginners and advanced practitioners the same. Advanced practitioners will widen their sensual experience with herbs and understand the effect of formulas and single herbs in a practical bottom-up approach. Beginners get a solid, easy to understand base for applying the functions of herbs and formulas, which they can work with immediately and continuously can build on.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in Chinese Medicine.
Willingness to taste and experience herbs and decoctions.

Certificate

All participants will receive a certificate of the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Klassische Akupunktur und Traditionelle Chinesische Medizin e.V. (AGTCM)".
